Dress Code

Please be sure you know what you need to purchase and what class you are in before you go to the dance store.

Shoe and Hair requirements:

2.5-3yrs or Preballet PKJK and SK-1st:
• Pink leather or canvas, ballet shoes (Not Target, Walmart or Payless brand).
• Students taking Tap - please wear black tap shoes with elastic.
• Neat ponytail, bun, or pigtails. Bun tutorial video can be seen Here

Levels 1-8:
• Pink canvas ballet shoes that fit like a glove, either Bloch, Capezio, Russian Pointe, or Grishko.
• Students taking Tap - please wear black tap shoes with elastic if under the age of 10. Older students can wear any type of black tap shoes.
• A bun is required: Slick back your hair (with water and/or gel if needed) into a tight ponytail. Twist the ponytail and wrap around into a bun with pins. Secure with sheer hair net and more pins. No stray hairs and minimal bangs. Bun tutorial video can be seen Here

Only dance sweaters in pink or black maybe be worn in class, during cooler months.
Please do not wear a visible sports bra with your leotard. Skirts should be all one length around and short, and should be worn on or right below the waist. “No-show” socks are NOT allowed.

Note for Summer Attire

2.5 – 3yrs, and Levels PKJK, SK1st & Level 1: We recommend purchasing attire for the new level you have been promoted to for the Fall, however current class attire from the spring is acceptable for the summer. Levels 2 - 8 please purchase a basic black leotard and skirt for the Ballet & Contemporary camps to use in class and performance.

Satellites:

Follow dress code instructions of the satellite school, and usually unless otherwise specified, 2.5-3yrs, and PKJK classes do not dress out at Pursuits, St Agnes, Campus School, Roulhacs and CMDS. Please wear your hair in a bun, ponytail, or pigtails to school on your ballet day, and wear leggings or leggings shorts. White thin bobby socks and pink ballet shoes are required. Pull on tutus are provided by CBT each class time. If you are in SK-1st, or Level 1, please note a leotard will be required for rehearsals for Nutcracker, and the Spring Recital. Sk-1 and Level 1 will also need white briefs at rehearsals/shows. Information for Nutcracker will be given in the Fall.

Preballet 2.5 yrs - 3 yrs:

Preballet PK-JK (3-5yrs):

Preballet SK (5yrs):

Preballet 1st (6 yrs):

Levels 6 to 8:
• Black Princess Seamed Capped Sleeve Microfiber (So Danca) Leotard
• Seniors may wear any style of black leotard. Leotards should be simple style with no criss crossing straps, sparkles, or cutouts on the back.
• Black wrap chiffon (Bloch) Skirt
• Theatrical Pink Convertible Tights (Bodywrappers or Capezio)

Boys attire all levels:
• Black leggings or snug black joggers from the Gap, or black tights
• White snug T-shirt v neck or regular
• White thin long socks under the leggings, or white tights
• Black ballet slippers

Jazz, Modern or Contemporary Dance

Levels 2 - 3:
Wear this with your leotard: Black leggings or black jazz boy shorts over tights. Any color ballet shoes. Hair in a ponytail or bun.

Levels 4 - 8 and adults:
Wear these items over your leotard: Black leggings long or under the knee OR wide leg modern dance
pants from a dance store OR wide leg yoga pants OR boy shorts over tights. Black jazz shoes, or any color ballet shoes for modern dance (to protect our floors). Sometimes dance paws are requested by individual instructors for performance. Hair should be in a
ponytail or bun. Sports bra under a full tank top may be worn instead of your leotard if you don’t have a ballet
class afterwards.

Musical Theater
Comfortable pants, leggings, or shorts, with a shirt, tennis shoes. Slip-on jazz shoes or character shoes (or your ballet shoes) are now required to protect our special flooring in the main studio. Upon entering the studio, please remove your street shoes and put them on the rack, then put on the dance shoes. Black mary jane style shoes from Payless with a strap, or option of low heel character shoes, or jazz shoes, may be needed for shows (a letter will be emailed to you with shoe requirements after auditions).

Tap Class
Leotard OR form fitting, plain tank shirt/T-shirt of any solid color with no imprinting, black leggings, thin socks, Black tap shoes with elastic for students under the age of 10. Older students can wear any type of black tap shoes.

Adult Ballet
Leotard any color, pink or black tights with skirt optional or dance style leggings or sweats. Please be sure we can see the ankles. Pink ballet/ slippers Bloch, Capezio, Grisko or Russian Pointe preferred. Hair in a bun or twist.
