Class / Camp Description

Perform in our “Clara & the Nutcracker” production! Children's Ballet Theater in East Memphis students and parents alike remark on the uplifting atmosphere of the school, the excellent training, and the encouraging professional faculty. Kindness and support by peers is encouraged and many have said they developed life-long friends in the school. Children’s Ballet Theater offers training in the beautiful French and Russian traditions of classical ballet. The school's unique training methods help students develop lovely port de bras, grace, posture, strength, flexibility, multiple turns, and high jumps, along with confidence, grace and poise. Students perform annually in leading roles such as Clara, the Party Girls, the Snow Queen, the Arabian dance and more in our professional “Clara & the Nutcracker” at the Cannon Center with the Tennessee Ballet Theater for fall/winter and in the spring a grand “CBT Youth Company Show” which featuring ballets such as Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, and Swan Lake as well as exciting new contemporary dance choreography of contemporary dance based in modern and jazz. All ballet and contemporary choreography is included during class time. Note: Dancers in Levels 4 to 8, who are cast in major roles, and their understudies, will be required to enroll in the Wednesday classes, as well as attend Fridays after school or Saturdays 2:45 to 3:45pm for semi private coaching time, as needed. This principal roles include Clara, Sugar Plum, Prince, Arabian lead, Snow Queen, Bo Peep if with a partner, and their understudies. Most dancers will need to attend 4 of the semi privates or privates. Fees will be billed monthly Registration Deadline is August 11th to avoid $50 late registration fee.
