Class / Camp Description

Memphis Youth Musical Theater provides coaching, theatrical experience, and joy for performing for children and youth of all experience levels. Disney’s Mary Poppins JR (MTI New York) offers an enchanting mixture of irresistible story, unforgettable songs and breathtaking dance numbers based on the beloved movie and award winning Broadway show. Each week MYMT performers have group vocal lessons and solo coaching, choreography, and scene acting work culminating in a final show onstage the last week for friends and family. Auditions are held on the second day of the workshop and everyone gets a part as corps, solo, or lead role. The audition song is “Spoonful of Sugar” and practice it with full personality! The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures. Favorite songs in this concise version include “Let’s Go Fly a Kite”, “Spoonful of Sugar”, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” and “Chim Chim Che-ree”. This workshop and performance is directed by MYMT choreographer and Director Alyssa Abbas. Attire: comfortable pants and shirt, and required black jazz shoes. (Please help us protect our floors and do not wear your jazz shoes outside of the studio). Costumes are provided, but performers may be asked to bring items from home such as shirts or other attire for the show.

Cancellation Policy

75% refund is given if a student withdraws within 24 hours prior to a second class during the Spring and Fall Semester. No refunds will be given after the second class except in the case of a physician-verified illness. No refunds are given for COVID closure. In the event of COVID closure we offer excellent online class or camp. No refunds for Summer camps / classes unless requested three weeks prior to the camp / class start date. At that time a 75% refund will be granted. There is no pro-rating and no makeup classes. Tuition is not transferable to another session. Students cannot attend class until full payment is made. There is a $30 fee for cancelled checks. CBT reserves the right to cancel classes due to inclement weather conditions or teacher illness. In the event of a weather condition, you will receive an email. Please check your email. There are no makeup classes for inclement weather conditions.
